Connecting with Culture

Why should we connect with culture?

Connecting with culture.jpg

More then ever people are exploring spiritual things outside the church. They listen to songs, watch movies, have discussions with friends and try to make sense of the world. If you listen you’ll hear spiritual issues under discussion—in music, in movies, on TV and among people. We can use these conversations already happening to show how the Gospel can answer their questions in a context people understand. But to do this we need to know about the culture.

Songs and movies are talking about spiritual issues in ways that people really do understand. But too often we cannot engage in conversation because we have don’t have anything relevant to offer. We need to leverage culture to connect to people.

This page is designed to help you see how current movies, TV and music are talking about spiritual issues which can be used to point people to the Gospel and the truths of scripture. This is not an endorsement to see these movies, TV shows or buy the album; rather it is a place to find opportunities to share Truth in our current culture.

Integrating the Gospel with Culture Responsibly Integrating the Gospel with Culture Responsibly

By Adrian de Visser I am deeply appreciative of the work that was done by true and genuine missionaries who worked for the good of the Sri Lankan people, above all with a sincere motivation of saving the lost and building God’s kingdom. My appreciation, however, does not stand in the way of highlighting some of the errors they made. This I do, not... [Read more]

Book Review: The Shack Book Review: The Shack

Review By: Alisha Michael, www.hollywoodjesus.com Through the ages, one particular question has haunted mankind. It rings from pews of every denomination, rises from battlefields of wars past and present, and resonates in the hearts of God-jaded believers and non-believers alike. From its exacting grip none are exempt, for it will most certainly claim... [Read more]
